Professional Dance & Teacher Training Programme

This programme is a three (3) year intensive course designed to give students all round training that is vital in the performing arts industry. Establishing versatility will allow our students to create the pathway to a successful and diverse career in the performing arts industry.

MEPA College - Dance

Dance

All students will be geared towards graduating as highly skilled professional dancers for the industry.

Students will train intensively in the core subjects of Classical Ballet, Jazz and Tap for the grounding foundations of dance.

This programme works in-depth in many disciplined such as Commercial, Ballroom, Contemporary, Broadway Jazz, Conditioning, Pas De Deux, Stretch and Core, Acrobatics, Pointe Work, Hip Hop, Choreography, Dance Audition Technique, History of Dance, Injury Prevention and Dancers Pro Development.

Teacher Training

During the Professional Dance and Teacher Training Programme students are given the opportunity to take their IDTA Level 4 Diploma in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, TheatreCraft, Freestyle and Cheerleading.

This qualification provides a basis for learners to progress into dance teaching, either through running their own dance school or working as a teacher in a private dance school.

The objective of the Level 4 Diploma in Dance Teaching is for learners to:

  • Gain a knowledge and understanding of safe dance practice
  • Demonstrate skills, knowledge and understanding of their chosen dance genre
  • Demonstrate teaching practice

Once you have gained your Level 4 Diploma you also achieve UCAS points meaning you will then have the option to do a top up in the future should you wish to.

College Entry Requirements

Entry into college is by audition only. To apply for an audition you will need to complete and return the application and medical form together with the required photographs and audition fee.

Once we have received all of the relevant documents, you will be offered an audition date in which you must confirm your attendance.

Auditions are held between three and four times a year and are published on our website. We would advise applying sooner rather than later. MEPA College take pride in excepting students that are passionate, hardworking and demonstrate potential to succeed in the performing arts industry.

All students are set goals throughout the programme and constantly assessed formally and informally to ensure they are reaching all the personal goals set out for them. It’s our aim to ensure every student is nurtured and encouraged to help them gain confidence and grow as a artist. This will guarantee students will graduate with the knowledge they need to be prepared for the journey beyond graduation.
